For you to understand: when you say “keep politics out of tech” that is an explicit political position and you are basically saying “politics for me, but not for you”. Or to put it in different terms: unspoken support for the status quo, is a deeply reactionary political position and you are trying to enforce this by “keeping politics out of tech”.
The stick is better for movement, while the pads are better for aiming. And the buttons work fine where they are.
Arguably the left side pad is a bit useless for gaming itself, but its nice to have two pads for desktop navigation and using the on screen keyboard that is build into steam.
Steam controller obviously (for everything other than retro gaming which often requires a dpad).
Nothing specifically, just nice improvements cumulating over the years.
Installing Linux on most hardware became really easy maybe 5 years ago.
Gnome works quite well on a larger touch-screen. Edit: ah, Ubuntu should have that by default.
There is a special .iso archive for all past releases.
Systemd is very useful for managing (rootless) Podman containers.

Edit: ah, I should read the OP 🤦♂️
I recently looked this up again and it looks like the person who started the federation work in Gitlab got a new job and isn’t really working on it any more. So sadly this seems to be on hold as Gitlab the company is not themselves investing staff-hours into federation.
Not yet, but they are the ones actively working on it, so it will likely arrive there first. Still a few months out though.
Gogs started it originally, but was forked into Gitea years ago and hasn’t seen much development since.
Forgejo is a newer fork of Gitea after the IP rights to Gitea were (secretly) transferred to a for-profit company and some of the developers started to turn the project into a commercial open-core one.
🙄
Interesting that ALVR works on Wayland. Because regular SteamVR seems to be borked on Wayland ever since the SteamVR 2.0 update :(
It’s enshittified right in the design of the protocol. The entire idea of ATproto is to decentralize the annoying (& legally tricky) stuff like identity management and moderation, while keeping the profitable stuff (advertisement embedded in algorithmic feeds) more or less centralized.
And even though they are quite open about that in their technical documentation, somehow people fail to see it for what it is and think this would be somehow to their own benefit.
Phoronix has recent benchmarks.
For gaming the price / performance is on par with similar mid-priced AMD GPUs, but there are still some smaller incompatibility issues and the idle power draw is significantly higher.
For compute they are faster than AMD, but 3rd party software support is similarly bad, i.e. no CUDA.
Maybe the best part of the FP5 that is talked about little is that the main SoC is not a consumer grade Qualcomm chip, but an industrial grade one that will get driver and firmware upgrades for a much longer time than the consumer ones.
In addition it is fairly similar to other slightly older Qualcomm chips that already have main-line Linux kernel support, so the prospects of running Mobian or PostmarketOS on it are quite good.
You can grow larger plants in hydroponics, but the current setups really only make sense where land costs are at a high premium, thus you end up stacking plants on top of each other with artificial lighting, and as a result there is not much space for larger plants.
