Started on windows, like so many of us. Grew up with my father yelling at 3.1. Kept going with Microslop, until last year, when I switched to Mint. Just wanted to escape the insanity. I never really enjoyed Mint, and about 8days ago I installed Bazzite. There are no words to describe how happy I am with that distro. Its everything I wanted and more. Its fucking fast, everything works. I thought it was only going to be the case for basic things and gaming… But its fantastic across the board! Work, gaming, chilling, whatever floats your boat. I’ve been simping and talking so much about it, that my wife might start taping my mouth shut.
Thanks for the laugh, I needed it
I installed it like and hour ago (prior to seeing your message), will try it out soon. Never gave a proper run to Gimp. Insalled on Bazzite, had a downloadable extension section with it and all. I frigging love Bazzite. Thanks for the reminder: D

Linux@lemmy.ml•Bazzite has seen a massive jolt in growth over the holiday season, surpassing 50k active users. The Fedora Atomic image has gained 38.8k users total in 2025 since it began counting in April 🥳
2·1 month agoInstalled it Friday for the first time. Its ridiculously fast. I had everything up in running in less than an hour. It just flies, I m in awe. Only issue I’m having is “trouble” setting up pass-through for the sound system. Currently stuck in stereo. Only spent a few min to tweak things before leaving, though.
Edit: Turns out it had nothing to do with Bazzite. My wife had unplugged the rear speakers , and i had unplugged the subwoofer when plugging new PC. No wonder 5.1 wasnt working…

I’m running my containers in Podman Desktop (Bazzite plasma). It’s daemonless (no root). Ollama + open webui + searxng. Upon ollama container creation I had to specify using (amd) gpu. Podman is awesome, highly recommend!
