This is called multi-seating and requires input handling of more than one keyboard and mouse (as well as other things). It is not really useful for that in the state shown above.
I obviously downloaded a car after seeing that obnoxious anti-piracy ad.
The EU requires government acquisitions to be publicly announced so that private companies can make offers that the government then must choose from (not freely, mind you, but following some “objective” metrics).
Even though this might sound great to some, it has the downside of promoting commercial services and vendor lock-in up to the point that even if a free and open source alternative exists, it cannot be used unless there also exists some commercial entity behind it that can sell the software and support for it in accordance with the established metrics.
This might be one of the biggest hurdles in the way for Linux adoption, since anyone can claim to do lots of great stuff with SUPERproprietarySOFTWARETM and then hold critical services, like healthcare mentioned elsewhere, hostage to their failure to deliver on promises and future bad support.
I can send you an ISO file with more Tux.
Thanks! As I have been learning to love the Nix way of doing things my only regret is missing the great documentation of Arch. Hopefully we can have the best of both worlds in the future!
They just started counting all my computers and virtual machines on which I run Arch and Nixos btw!
Transsexual “women” fail to meet one basic requirement to be considered women: they are not female.
When the left stretches things up to the point you can face legal consequences for truthful speech, we digress into totalitarianism.
This is not at all what totalitarianism means, look it up in a dictionary or something.
The woke mob wants me to affirm that a transsexual woman is, in fact, a real woman. I will not say that. I would be a lying. I tend to pursue truth. Truth does not care about people’s feelings.
Ok. Seems to me that you just want a free pass at being an ass.
She is a real woman even though she does not conform to your expectations of what gender is. Here is the thing though: She does not need your affirmation to
What reason do you have to claim that she is not a “real woman” (whatever that means, I can guarantee that it is not well defined)? Most importantly, if she feels like a woman, even if you disagree on some metaphysical level of nonsense of what is a woman, why would you have the need to tell her what you think? Lastly, why do you think your opinion about her body is important?
You misunderstand what I am saying: They are mostly (save where hate speech laws apply) allowed to say nasty stuff. They just do not enjoy the privilege of everyone else shutting up about it. I.e., other people react to it and say unkind, possibly nasty stuff back, which the original people in question get butt hurt by and subsequently whine about “the woke mob cancelling them”.
woke ideology
Like basic respect for others?
not allowed to say anything
Yeah, this is just not true. Unlike those who are actually marginalized, these people say nasty shit and claim that being called a dickhead for it is a violation of their freedom of speech. The reality is that they actually want some sort of immunity to backlash for their own words and actions, effectively limiting other people’s freedom of expression.
American left-wing values
Hold up, what? The Overton window of US politics is so skewed to the right that what is usually considered left-wing there is right-wing elsewhere. US left-wing (read right-wing for much of the rest of the world) values are definitely common globally due to American cultural export (read military hegemony and neocolonialism).
I see you are one of our elders.
It is because you have two monitors with different scaling, re your reply below. I have the same problem with my 4K and 1440p monitors as well (200% and 150% scaling, respectively). This has been a rather big problem IMO, so much so that I have not really used the scaling that much and instead relied on increasing font size.
The reason why is that games run through Xwayland, and X only has global scaling factor setting and not a per monitor one. Therefore they have to do some weird stuff that I can not adequately explain, but which is the reason for the applications thinking they are on a lower resolution than they really are.
I actually did a benchmark yesterday and it doesn’t really seem to matter performance wise (I thought they might both upscale and downscale, but that seems to not be the case from my testing). It is also possible to tinker with gamescope if any games do not display properly.
Many of these have C-bindings for their libraries, which means that slowness is caused by bad code (such as making a for loop with a C-call for each iteration instead of once for the whole loop).
I am no coder, but it is my experience that bad code can be slow regardless of language used.
Halsin is not going to wait around for you to actually want to see him nude!
Overleaf are not benefactors that develop LaTeX for economic gains, unlike the situation with Typst that rely on it (to my knowledge). LaTeX is also cross platform, supported in tons of editors and can easily be converted to other formats with pandoc. It is also somewhat supported in other formats using implementations such as KaTeX for Markdown and Mathjax in HTML due to being the defacto standard for math typesetting.
Writing papers in LaTeX is a joy, not a pain. The end result is also a beautifully typeset document rivalled by none.
From the LaTeX project:
The experience gained from the production and maintenance of LaTeX2e (the version you have been using for many years) had a major influence on our goals for future development and on new code which is now integrated into LaTeX.
A while ago we made the decision to drop the idea of a separate LaTeX3 format that would exist in parallel to LaTeX2e, but instead decided to gradually modernize LaTeX to keep it competitive in today’s world while maintaining compatibility methods for older documents.
I think this decision was pretty much a good one.
Overleaf does not modernize LaTeX in meaningful ways. It only adds cloud functionality and glossy appearance that you can get on dedicated editors anyways.
Learning LaTeX and working around its quirks seems like a much better time investment than sidegrading to something that lives on premises given by a proprietary commercial project. If someone saw LaTeX and said “I want to make some version of this that is better”, without alterior motives, they would probably just work on improving LaTeX (which a whole lot of people do).
Fancy does not mean better, and often is in many ways worse than plain old boring.
It is a joke, there are no ads. I just wrote a fake command in the Nix syntax.
