Whoa! They look like a very long line of obviously bad decisions. Unwearable. Not even ironically ugly. Like a CEO designed it himself surrounded by a vacuum of yes men.

Oh WaPo, what happened to thee?

I very much agree. A more just solution would see settlements from cases such as this should come from the police unions funds, or as you suggested - not from taxpayers.

Wow. Just wow.

Linux noob here. Just upgraded hardware and reinstalled Windows and Linux on the gaming computers and even though I’m a complete Linux beginner, 9 out of 10 software issues were with windows! I couldn’t believe a gazzilion dollar company with thousands of employees still couldn’t get it right?

A waiter at McDonald’s? That’s a real job right? That doesn’t sound made up at all. But I’m sure the rest of the story is COMPLETELY factual right?
“Inc.” magazine is not known for quality articles.

Ahh. Fintech means financial technologies, not Finnish. That makes more sense.

You are right and to me that’s the part that makes the least sense. The crisis isnt the “dont wash your car” kinda crisis, its the “murder people to keep them from drilling a well on their own property because it might draw on the same aquifer as you” kind of crisis. It is a literal desert, and the NSA data center in utah already consumes something like half a million gallons of water a day.

Meta contractors were tasked with viewing peoples glasses video, where the wearers did not appear to know they were being recorded. “For quality purposes”. Including using the bathroom. So everytime a glasses user goes to the bathroom, a kenyan could be watching? Every time they enter their online banking credentials, a kenyan could be noting them down? Good god.

I don’t get what they will sctually be doing. It’s all hype speak and that’s a lot of money for mumbo jumbo.

Good god the title is very misleading. The grand jury hearing isn’t until April 14. It’s still chilling that the administration will go to these lengths to apparently silence criticism, but I’m not convinced there is more to this story. Although the reddit user in question is enlisting a civil liberties group to represent him, I’m thinking he/she may not be a terrorist mastermind who is a danger to the American people.

So when my tinder AI meets and dates another person’s AI, openAI will send me the bill for their AI wedding, then when the divorce comes, they’ll sue for half of my real life stuff?
Neat.
I’ve been struggling with this shift too. Tech used to game changing ideas for people, now it’s sole purpose is a vehicle for corporate profits. Tech used to be an exciting Wild West of crazy new ideas and new ways to be creative or play or communicate and share with friends or do less work. Now consumer focused tech is just minor evolutions of current tech launched with billion dollar marketing campaigns, corporate traps to lock you into app addictions or various subscriptions to see stock price increase 0.1%. And I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
