Yeah but like the screen folds. I agree that the keyboard has some uses. The folding screen doesn’t really or not nearly as many it’s just novelty cool. I personally don’t have a use case for either so the more technically impressive thing (the folding screen) seems cooler to me. And you have to admit that the first time you saw a folding tablet phone thing it kinda blew ur mind or at least it blew mine.

The lockdown is not in android itself but in Google services so if the device is on a new enough android version (not very new like marshmallow) the lockdown will apply. If the lockdown were in android itself it would affect(effect? Idk) all roms

This is only affecting roms that are Google approved and have Google play services installed meaning that going to a custom rom will fix this but also that any device currently supported by GPS will be affected. Therefore even old unsupported devices which are no longer receiving updates from their manufacturer will be locked down without the user’s choice

Yeah dude I agree while I personally would still buy an android phone instead of an iPhone most likely a pixel again because of the custom ROM support. But they really are trying to make it as hard as possible for people who like their platform for how open it is to stay on it

Everyone here just saying “oh I don’t use that therefore no one needs it and should just lose it and switch to a Linux distro” is not helping anyone. This person told us their requirements to switch. How hard is that to understand for anyone. They also told us the requirements of most of the population. This concept should not be so hard to understand. Everyone has features they need in certain products. Some people don’t care how headphones sound they just care that they make sound others are really picky audiophles. It’s all preference

There are other roms than calyx and stock you can put lineageos on it and they are great with updates usually within a few days of a patch coming out they’ll push an ota
