Memory safe language that’s becoming viable … as a proper replacement of C.
There are many other memory safe languages out there. Just not ones most would like to pull in to the kernel…

Those problems persist to this day. Just like how Trump (didn’t) delt with COVID.
“The economy” took precedence over peoples’ health, even though peoples’ activity makes the economy… By allowing so many to die, the US’ economy will produce far less than it would have for decades to come. They failed even at the direct goal they were aiming for…
The short-sightedness is the problem. People who think they even can defocus on any goal are only succeeding in deluding themselves.
That was, in fact, wrong.
Just because there is a high priority present doesn’t magically make it ok to throw your humanity out the window… Why do I have to explain this!? Are you a sociopath?!
That ENTIRE SHOW was about how he had many chances to choose to not be a piece of shit. Every spiral was because of him. He is, in fact, a terrible person, and the fact you cannot understand that is concerning. Having one singular noble goal does NOT magically absolve him of all of his terrible decisions.
You are the only one wasting time by giving dumbass avoidance advice instead of telling us what you know.
… What insider information do you have and why do you want to keep us ignorant???
The question was, “why is this a technical limitation?” Not, “what should I do to work around the limitation?”.
I remove that abomination every chance I get.
The only problem the Luddites had is they went and busted the machines instead of the rich owners’ kneecaps.
If you say, “they did that too!” Well, NOT ENOUGH!!
A fraudulent banker named Bankman-fried … ok well not perfect, but…
This seems more like a step against that road. Unless parents end up with fewer rights than corporations, your fear mongering seems like nothing more than a psychotic episode. Do better when analyzing things. For the love of god, do better.
It makes sense from MS’s perspective. They started not liking Linux, and now have integrated it in their OS with WSL, thusly becoming a full clown for the great hypocrisy compared to their original dislike of Linux.
Yea but we expect them to also know “R” isn’t for “Really fast”.
You need to recognize what defending ignorance is.
Jesus, the self-entitlement of users these days… When saying you might have to RTFM is equivalent to, “that feature never worked or never existed and you should feel bad for wanting it”.
Nobody is gatekeeping anything by merely pointing out that you will very likely be digging through docs to troubleshoot Linux.
That’s just stating a fact. Why does stating a fact offend you so much?
No, that is very much NOT unique to electric cars.
You can only be getting voted down by the illiterate, because you are correct.
… getting most of my apps through snap…
You poor soul.
I mean, what’s that one complaint about electric cars?
You yourself said it was about feeling seen.
Do you think that only comes in one flavor?
I’m not knocking the sentiment you describe. I’m knocking the use of projective and tokenizing bullshittery.
I’m sorry you’re offended, but these jokes specifically are doing culture and acceptance no favors.
You can feel accepted without reducing yourself to a token.
Yea, it’s not C that is crap, but that it has zero guard rails. Like blaming a knife for not having a guard… Is it a bad knife without a guard? Depends on how sharp it is. The guard is orthogonal to the knife’s purpose, but might still be important when the knife is used.
Just because something doesn’t help prevent accidents does not mean it cannot serve its actual purpose well, unless its actual purpose is safety.
