  • Because usually those are masquerading as legitimate apps.

Real example: Google allows “Muhammad mahmood ali” from Pakistan to run fake ads pretending to be a more famous corporation (flagged, google replied that this individual isn’t breaking the TOS somehow, flagged again, the bot replied that yes, that phishing page doesn’t break AdWords TOS - probably the scammers are serving different content according to the IP address)

When someone searches for “dji app”, they get an ad that looks legitimate and goes to a fake landing page where they say to download and install this apk, showing a fake “100% safe and trusted” logo.

So, they can’t say the list of the infected apps, because the real apps aren’t affected. Someone could have been tricked by a fake ad to install an infected version of “bank of America” but the real app is clean

  • How this is a desiderable feature? I always use the volume buttons for reject calls, shoot photos (although on my latest MIUI phone the volume button didn’t shoot a photo but set the auto timer), quickly adjust volume during a call or media playback.

Same for the power button, even if I set double tap to wake and double tap (on empty part of launcher) to standby, the power button is faster.

I’d even want more buttons. I want an extra programmable button(s) like the iphone and I also want a mute slider that can be programmed as rotation lock

  • I accidentally activated it and It really sucked.

First, when you invoke it, it’s not listening but you have to press an additional button on the screen.

Second, it’s way slower than Google assistant and it fails doing the most basic tasks

My use case: I invoke the voice assistant by double tapping on the back of my pixel, then speak without watching the screen. I exclusively use two voice commands:

    1. Set a timer for n minutes
    2. Turn off the light

So when I invoked it, need to unlock the screen, press the microphone button, say the command, wait a couple dozens of seconds , it couldn’t even set a fucking timer.

In the time of that I could have saved time by just doing it manually, if anyway I am forced to interact with the screen
