Harder maybe but it’s clearly doable. We have a number of options now. And it’s not like they’ve had to make them hyper-aerodynamic or anything. Just took a little more advanced battery tech.

Yeah the electric pickup is such a no brainer for the US market and it was one of the first.
But what if it was horribly ugly and made everyone hate you? Surely it will sell even better then!

Really? I see chuds driving them all over my town unfortunately. Admittedly far less popular than other Tesla vehicles though which are absolutely everywhere here in CA. Seems like most people forgot Musk is a nazi already.

The work eventually could lead to drones that monitor wildlife, survey the environment and inspect infrastructure with less visual disruption.
Ah yes these are the reasons people would want drones that are hard to see, and there are absolutely no others.

Absolutely. The reaction of workers to automation underlines the exploitation going on here. If you knew nothing about the economy you would be baffled that people would be upset to have robots doing hard work instead of them. But we all know we’ll be sent to the trash heap as soon as our owners find a tool they don’t have to feed and shelter.

I was referencing that my local schools got rid of buses several rounds of austerity ago in favor of free public bus fares for students. And in a more recent round of austerity they also got rid of those. So now it’s drive or get fucked I guess. Gotta teach those kids to support themselves I suppose.

You guys are getting buses?

All good points. I was just thinking I probably would not be willing to do any camera-based captcha.
At a certain point if they force me to stop being online maybe that’s not so bad.

I don’t see how any captcha will remain viable for long at this point. The bots are going to win eventually.

I’m 100% sure this is a joke dunking on truck bros.

Fair I agree it’s overhyped. But to be honest the amount I think it’s overhyped continues to decline as its capabilities continue to advance. And we’re at a point now where it is clearly useful for many tasks, even if it’s not appropriate for everything.

Bad look for Claude after their vigorous insistence their model can’t be used this way.
Also bad look for the 50 people I get in my inbox telling me AI is completely useless every time I talk about it. These arguments were worthy of entertainment a few years ago but not in 2026.

I mean it kinda is but you’re right that any increases are pretty inconveniently timed.

I see. I agree there are definitely a lot of niches I would enjoy that are missing, but I do enjoy what is here for the most part.

Really? I would not say that personally.

Sounds a bit like Lemmy lol

I personally don’t think the concept of stolen IP is ethically coherent. Ownership of ideas is a ridiculous concept. So I don’t find this to be a very compelling argument for why AI is bad per se.
However, I do think it strengthens the argument that it should not be the intellectual property of tech oligarchs who did not create the vast breadth of knowledge that the algorithm is sorting through and accessing.

I’m not an expert but my understanding is most of the computation is in the training. The actual queries are not too difficult to manage. So I think that’s what makes it more difficult to monetize because you’re trying to position yourself as a digital gatekeeper for work that has already been done. Yes, some industries have survived in this position but it limits the amount of profit you can make because there are always ways to copy someone else’s homework. So if prices are too high people will opt out because they have other options even if they’re slightly less quality or convenience.
All the more reason not to put these in residential areas…
