Oh and I guess steam has also been carefully cultivating their own IP, studios, and games for the past 40 years to ensure a steady supply of the new stuff right? Right?
Because even I hear someone gushing over their switch it’s because they are playing some 4 year old game that finally made it there and it’s definitely not titles like Mario or Zelda.
I’m sure I had no idea when I picked it out. None.
Yeah I’m sure this is the first time this MIT computer science grad had noooooo idea what she was doing.
Lol steam Deck is already on the edge of not being able to play new AAA console titles. There will be a few ten thousand left who will feel like there is value in buying a second.
This is the new Steam Link. They’ve probably lost millions internally.
Maybe 10 years from now if they keep pumping massive money into it but it’s certainly not even close to comedically viable.
Because the rest of the world exists. Can you name a single technology that massively boosted productivity but was regulated at a global scale successfully? Do you think a country with low goods export is going to hamper it’s competitive advantage because some highly paid (yes American writers are highly paid compared globally) Hollywood writer says this is bad?
They have a term for this. Luddite.
Lolololol 👌
Software getting pegged with cves left and right because of hundreds of source libraries is definitely not a thing.
Unless you are one of the few people writing go routines for massive companies, or working on hardware and low level hardware where you have low resources where scaling can mean millions you are writing code using hundreds of dependencies and libraries.
Very very few people need to code like that.
LMAO imagine thinking you can fight this.
If a robot is going to take your job, stop bitching to courts and either learn to use the tech to improve or find a new job.
This shit is happening, you can’t put it back in the bottle, and you’ll just be replaced by someone living with less restrictive laws.
Countries that join in this absurd protectionism will fall behind economically.
Imagine thinking OSS doesn’t spy on you 🤣
“Asian MIT grad who knows exactly what she is doing, pretends to be shocked after intentionally triggering industry known bias that are already acknowledged and being worked on”
This is just a student manufacturing controversy ensuring she has a great talking piece at her interviews.
I just want to gag reading the synopsis. You people are delusional. Yeah platforms are successful because of a lack of interoperability 👌👍🤣
I have been laughed at and down voted every single fucking time I point out how woefully unprepared every fucking instance is.
The free model is flawed and will be unsuccessful every fucking time there is any signs popular server. And users aren’t going to tolerate moving fucking servers every month.
You think cloudflare is going to keep on protecting lemmy.world each week on their free/professional their? Enterprise starts at 20k a year before traffic, good luck raising that kind of yearly money on a hobby server.
And then there is GDPR and CCPA all of which are ignored and clearly not being enforced just waiting for a lawsuit.
Oh and I do I need to explain to you people the child porn reporting mechanisms that need to be in place?
The only way if this bullshit is successful it’s if someone starts a no profit e.g Mozilla foundation and acts like a functioning adult running a business vs a 16 year old tinkering with Linux.
Bring on the down votes and compium.
Most people do.
And the vast majority of those not using them are not valuable as customers.
