No bank gives a fuck about you. You are right but just for perspective, banks here use their app for 2fa with the only other option being sms (which doesn’t even work half the time) and which bank you use is pretty much dictated by your employer. Banks aren’t even that bad as some countries require an app for gov id which may or may not work on grapheneos.

This is a regulation problem, it’s not going away. The most a user can do is keep a second phone with android just for verification. I really wish we could just move to yubikeys at this point.

Some distros come with both pre-installed so you don’t really need to swap out anything. If it’s not pre-installed, I don’t know, you might be right and it won’t fix anything.

I’ve had issues with specific apps that just don’t support it, others that require installing more packages and others that I didn’t care enough to look into. That’s a significant enough number to take it into account when trying things.

Personal issues I’ve had and other questions I’ve seen online. It’s not necessarily wayland itself, it might be how other programs treat screen sharing in it. In any case it’s worth a try if it’s an easy change.

This might be wrong but I think many of screen sharing related issues actually come from wayland. If you’re on wayland and can switch to X11 on your current system I’d try that first before deciding on a new distro.

I wonder what “doesn’t provide access” means here. They are not pre-installed? Can you not install any android app on it?

Just tried it. Top result is… Sony Xperia 10VII

I have the 10vi. It’s pretty good for the money I paid (~300€). The UI is very close to plain android which is nice and doesn’t have a billion extra apps pre-installed like Samsung. The battery has been great so far. MicroSD and headphone jack are great features and I think you can also unlock the bootloader.

Having said that, some issues I’ve had that may or may not exist in other versions:

• The lock screen is buggy as hell, way too many accidental fingerprint unlocks and camera bugs that have persisted across updates.
• In Europe (different countries) it’s only ever gotten 5G once.
• Sony is doing something weird with its camera hardware. Any apps that try to use the camera outside the official app are having issues focusing and one app was actually crashing. This is not an everyday issue but would be a problem if you want to use a third party camera app.

I’d still recommend it but maybe try to find a discount cause Sony overcharges a lot.
